Food to go, set to grow and grow…
6th Nov 2019
The Food To Go (FTG) market, as defined by the MCA, encompasses all foodservice channels and is set to grow by 3.0% to a value of £21.2bn in 2019*. And, while speed of service is cited as the top need for FTG customers, good value and food quality are becoming increasingly important to them.
This is backed up by the IGD** who are forecasting FTG will be worth £23.5bn by 2022, and an MCA / HIM report*** predicts that the top three channels set to outperform the Eating Out market are FTG operators, coffee shops and food delivery focused operators.
So, what can operators do to jump on the FTG bandwagon?
“Focus on high quality ingredients, creative innovation and solution-based concepts,” says Lee Personius, Managing Director for Tugo Food Systems. He adds, “Our branded food concepts allow caterers to stay in touch with the High Street and offer consumers food that is on trend, in a format that allows for today’s ever-on-the-move lifestyle. The latest MCA report*** says that consistency, innovation, efficiency and a great experience are the key factors behind the most admired brands on the High Street. Contract caterers and other operators across B&I, education, healthcare and leisure are all competing with these brands on a day to day basis and Tugo is offering them an inspirational, simple solution. We have done all the hard work in developing popular menu items with high quality ingredients and we are winning favour with caterers by offering a supportive and innovative approach, across all our concepts, which include NEO pizza, Burrito Cantina, 4ork Street Food and Pasta Factory brands.”
The Company believes the food it supplies should be the very best it can be and at very least, free from GM ingredients, Trans-fats, artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. It takes food allergies seriously and challenges the nutritional team within the business to reduce the number of allergens in their food – and all manufacturing facilities are nut-free. All meats are UK in origin. The Company has a strong belief in sustainability and is increasing the amount of recycled materials in its packaging – which is 100% plastic-free, 100% compostable and 100% biodegradable – using only what it needs, and giving back wherever the opportunity arises.
Tugo’s 4ork menu has been created to offer flavours of the world with something for everyone in 57 totally customisable combinations from Mac n Cheese to Katsu Curry and Ratatouille to Meatball Mania. And Burrito Cantina takes its inspiration from the highly popular street food of Mexico.
With the other additions to the portfolio of Neo Pizza, 4ork and the Pasta Factory, caterers can delight their customers with food to go from all corners of the world.
Bespoke recipes can also be developed to suit any site and Tugo delivers the whole package; free-on-loan equipment, fully costed recipes, nutritional specifications, branded POS and packaging, as well as an ongoing programme of training and support.
