We’re Going Plastic Free
Tugo is challenging plastic pollution, one pot at a time
3rd Jun 2019
In recent years, the world has woken up to the long-term effects of plastic waste on the environment. Single-use plastics are one of the worst offenders, as 40% of the 400 million tonnes of plastic produced each year is used just once before it’s thrown away. It’s easy to be daunted by the facts in the media, but there are steps we can all take to reduce our plastic consumption.
As we move towards a future without waste, we want to do everything we can to limit our use of plastic and non-recyclable packaging. That’s why we’ve created these new pots, which are made using 100% sustainable resources. Not only that, but they are FSC certified, fully biodegradable and fully compostable.
Our commitment to the environment
Here at Tugo, we are dedicated to our corporate social responsibility strategy. From investigating alternative materials for our packaging to reducing the amount of packaging used overall, we are on a continual quest to take positive steps towards sustainability, and we encourage our customers and other businesses to consider their use of plastic too. To date, we have significantly reduced packaging overall and we’ve increased the amount of recycled material used in that packaging to 85%.
Challenging plastic pollution
With the shocking statistic that 91% of plastic in the world isn’t currently recycled, it’s evident that businesses need to be ready to take action. That’s why we’re pleased to offer our brand-new plastic-free 4ork pot, which is permanently replacing our previous pot.
The benefits of our plastic-free pots include:
- Being 100% biodegradable and recyclable, we can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill
- Representative of the innovation here at Tugo, our plastic-free pots contribute towards the responsibility for ethical production methods and advanced animal welfare initiatives that are at the core of 4ork
- The feelgood factor that we and our clients will have, knowing that they are part of positive action against plastic waste
Our new plastic-free pots are each topped by a gold lid, a shining halo that represents not only our commitment to flavour but the future of our planet. The pot may have changed but the recipes contained within burst with freshness and flavour.
The new pots are coming soon, so be sure to look out for them. The future is in your hands!
